Prophet William S. Crowdy

The Call

When the hand of the Lord moves upon a life, there is—without a doubt—transformation. In 1892, God saw fit to touch a simple farmer, William Saunders Crowdy, and to call him from his humble existence as a sower of seeds to the far greater purpose of harvesting souls.

The Challenge

Crowdy had been born into slavery in Maryland; he had made a living as a soldier in the Civil War and later as a railroad worker. Yet this man from such humble beginnings began to have revolutionary dreams. He dreamed of establishing a church whose doctrine encompassed both the Old and New Testaments, a church that would proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, a church that would welcome people from all backgrounds into one family of faith. It must have seemed ridiculous for a man  to consider taking on such an enormous task, but with God all things are possible.

The “Grapevine Tabernacle”

The Grapevine Tabernacle was established in 2011 by Bishop Robert H. Stallings. With a few faithful members, the congregation began holding services at the Super 8 Motel (seen in the picture above) in Grapevine, Texas.

We believe in the Almighty God, Creator of all things (Genesis 1). We believe in Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son who was with God in the beginning, who came to suffer and die for our sins, and was raised from death by a miracle (St. John 3:16; St. Matthew 16:16; St. Matthew 28). We believe in the Holy Spirit who is a gift from the Lord, a comforter, a teacher, and an empowering entity for those who love the Lord (Acts 1:8; I Corinthians 2:9-13).

We esteem the Bible to be a full and sufficient guide for Christian living (II Peter 1:20-21; II Timothy 3:16). We follow a unique doctrine based on both the Old and New Testaments.

We believe that confession that Jesus Christ is Lord (Romans 10:9), sincere repentance of one’s sins (St. Mark 1:15; II Corinthians 7:10), baptism by immersion in water and by the Spirit (Galatians 3:26-27; St. John 3:5; Romans 6:4), and the putting on of the spiritual armor of God (Ephesians 6:11-17) lead to salvation.

We keep the Seventh Day Sabbath. We believe it is a covenant between God and His people forever, and there is a blessing for keeping it holy unto the Lord (Exodus 20:8-10; Hebrews 4:4-8; Isaiah 58:13, Revelation 22:14). In the beginning, God rested on it and made it holy (Genesis 2:3), and Jesus, Himself our example, kept the Sabbath holy and performed good works on that day (St. Luke 1:16). The Sabbath begins at the sunset of the sixth day (Friday) and continues to sunset on the seventh day (Saturday). See Genesis 1:5 where the Word tells us that a day actually starts with an evening (nighttime) and is followed by a morning (daytime).

The Move To Fort Worth then Euless

After worshiping in the Super 8 motel conference center for 9 years, the membership voted and relocated to the current address of 5504 Brentwood Stair Rd. in Fort Worth, TX in June in 2020. This marked an turning point for the membership. As the COVID-19 pandemic began to reach devastating numbers, the Saints remained faithful to their financial obligation. By the grace of God, the rent and utilities remained current. Necessary technological upgrades were made to the sanctuary which included a 4k television for incorporating Zoom services, wireless microphones, and a day/night vision camera. We have now moved to our new location on 901 Clinic Dr. in Euless, TX. We are holding services weekly as well as online via Zoom
